Step 2 Success Programme
Step 2 Success is an intervention programme delivered by DLC Mentors in collaboration with students who require additional support. Mentors liaise with the Senior Leadership Team to discuss and agree why a student would benefit from being placed on the programme.
The programme typically runs for six weeks and involves regular one-to-one sessions between the mentor and student. During this time, a range of topics are explored, focusing on areas such as behaviour, emotional wellbeing, confidence, and self-esteem. The aim is to support the student in recognising and understanding that their behaviour may be linked to unmet needs or underlying feelings.
Mentors are responsible for recording each session and reflecting on the student’s progress. Updates are shared during weekly pastoral board meetings, held on Thursdays. Mentors also maintain regular communication with Family Workers, the SEN team, and the Senior Leadership Team.
In addition, mentors keep in contact with parents or carers, providing updates on the student’s progress and how the sessions are supporting their development.
