Sexual Health Support at DLC
At Dorchester Learning Centre, we want all of our students to have access to accurate, age-appropriate information and support to help them make safe and informed choices about their health and wellbeing.
Our School-Based Family Workers Lorraine Brown and Ash Green and our DSL Jayne Lewis have completed C-Card training with Sexual Health Dorset, our local sexual health service. This means that students aged 13–16 can access free condoms and confidential sexual health advice within school.
Students can also receive support to:

Ask questions about relationships, contraception and sexual health.

Access free condoms through the C-Card scheme.

Make appointments with Sexual Health Dorset.

Receive support and, where appropriate, be accompanied to a sexual health clinic appointment.
Our aim is to provide a safe, approachable and non-judgemental space where students can ask questions and get reliable information without feeling embarrassed or judged.
Working with Sexual Health Dorset
Sexual Health Dorset also visits Dorchester Learning Centre each year to deliver age-appropriate lessons to our Year 10 and Year 11 students. These sessions cover important topics including contraception, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), consent, healthy relationships and making informed choices.
We believe that providing young people with accurate information and access to appropriate support helps them to look after their physical and emotional wellbeing and supports them to make positive, healthy choices.
If a student has a question or would like support with their sexual health, they can speak to our School-Based Family Workers in confidence.
