On Friday 2nd July 2010 we said farewell

to our Year 11 students.

We wanted to spend the day at

Thorpe Park, so we did.

During National Science & Engineering Week

we worked with a Textile Artist.

Roy Lichtenstein was an American pop

artist and in his style we created paintings

of ourselves.

This year's Karting team qualified for BSKC's

South West Regional Final held at Thruxton

Kart Centre on Saturday 6th March.

We work very closely with the other 18 schools

within the Dorchester Area Schools Partnership

(DASP).

Students and staff enjoyed exploring our

backyard on foot at the end of the 2009

Autumn Term.

This year’s trip to the Dirt Bike Show was a great

day out, we left the Centre at 7 in the morning

to drive up to Coventry, 9 students and 4 staff.

On a very mild 19th October 12 students from DLZ

and Sherborne Learning Centre supported by 4

staff visited the National Oceanography Centre in

Southampton.

On Friday 16^th October 2009, World Food Day,

a dozen students from DLZ experienced a taste

of the Sudan in ‘exotic’ Poundbury. 

We celebrated National Poetry Day again this year.

In 2009 DLZ entered its greatest number of

GCSE Art & Design students to date.

I am delighted to report this year's

excellent exam results.

Students and staff enjoyed a fun filled week of

activities at the end of the Summer Term.

A Rights Respecting School teaches children

and young people that they have rights under

the United Nations Convention on the Rights

of the Child.
